Shift Manager
REPORTS TO (Title): Assistant General Manager DEPARTMENT: Restaurant Operations
STATUS CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt JOB CODE:
SUPERVISES: No formal supervisory responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE: The Shift Manager provides additional support to the Restaurant Management Team and allows for
additional coverage during peak periods, or in the absence of a Manager. This position will assist with management
duties (including opening and closing the restaurant) and can also flex to work other hourly restaurant positions. While
clocked in as a Shift Manager, the overall focus is general restaurant day to day operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Team
· Corrects and coaches performance during a shift.
· Conducts pre and post shift meetings
· Assists other Managers with interviewing, training, development and retention of Team Members
Guest
· Actively engages with all Guests
· Supports proper execution of the Guest Experience including Food/Beverage, AV/Technology and Community
Connection
· Ensures steps of service are properly executed
Quality Operations
· Supervises the operation of the restaurant on a shift-by-shift basis
· Completes all Manager tools on time and with integrity
· Ensures proper food, alcohol and general safety standards are being followed
· Conducts effective figure 8’s
· Conducts CVDs and pullbacks during a shift
Sales and Profits
· Supports execution of all sales building initiatives
· Properly executes loyalty program on all shifts
· Manages labor during a shift
OTHER JOB DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
· General knowledge of labor laws, health codes, safe food handling and sanitation, responsible alcohol
service, safety and security systems and procedures, computer operations
· Good people management skills, communication and listening skills. Must champion change
· Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
· Must be self-motivated, detail oriented and have a passion for teaching others
· Must be able to read and comprehend written materials, write in grammatically correct sentences, and
perform basic to intermediate mathematical computations
JOB REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required
· Education: High School or equivalent.
· Meets the minimum state age requirement related to serving alcohol
· Must possess proper food handlers and alcohol dispensing certifications (if required by law)
· Satisfactory background check history
· Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
Preferred
· Minimum 1 year restaurant experience
· Bachelor’s Degree
· Coursework in restaurant management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands for this position are sits, stands, bends, and moves intermittently during working hours. Must
also have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
